In the summer in 1985 there was a bus rally at Langley Mill depot and that was when I first came into contact with the bus. I had met up with some of my former MGO workmates who took me to where the bus was kept at the depot it looked a bit better than it was in the above photo, and as a former coach painter for MGO I got roped in to paint it for them. The following two photos are how it looked at that time.
The bus was finally finished in time for the 1986 rally season. it was very successful picking up a few trophies. In time I bought a share off one of the original four, and learned out to drive it.
In the 1990s the bus had a change of ownership, I remained a shareholder but whilst in their care it got vandalized again by some mindless Ilkeston scumbags. Because of circumstances it was a number of years before repairs where carried out by myself and Andrew Wilkinson, after it was completed I purchased it and I am now the sole owner.
In 1990 the bus was used for a fundraising event that involved it being driven round the entire coastline of England and Wales, this was to raise money and awareness for the "Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust and made 8250 pounds for their funds.
Since I took control the bus is rallied none stop from April to November. At Show bus in 2011 the bus won the Doyen award for the best single deck bus.
Major repairs to the bus are carried out by volunteers at the Nottingham Heritage Centre where the bus is stored and I am the in house volunteer coach painter. All volunteers at the centre are members of the Nottingham Area Bus Society (NABS).

Prior to 296 supporting the proposed steam engine pull Dave and Will are doing a few outstanding engineering items witch have been outstanding due to commitments on our other projects, this will also get the bus ready for its first rally witch will be the Llandudno Festival of Transport to be held on May bank holiday weekend 4th 5th & 6th of May.
