At Ruddington there is the remains of a Tram lower saloon that had been used as a store shed for some years and we in the bus department are always on the lookout for a challenge I think we have got one.
It is in reasonable condition for its age and because it is a local Tram it is a goer. It is an ex Nottingham Corporation Tram fleet no. 45.
Not being up on Trams we will do some home work and find out more of its history we know it was made by English Electric / Dick Kerr. Below are a few pictures of it in its present condition.
The roof has had new felt put on.
And this is first coat of primer that has been applied, this is to show how serious myself, Dave, Paul,Jerry and the rest of the bus dept volunteers are.
This is the condition of most of the paintwork and hiding underneath is wood rot and this has had us do a rethink, it will not be a full restoration but a cosmetic makeover. But we would appreciate that any Anoraks Big Heads and Know alls keep their thoughts to themselves.
If we can obtain a NCT Tram Stop the picture above is of the post we will use, it will also have a clock in it.

Work has started on the other side, that should keep the weather out.
The original woodwork inside has been varnished.
Thats as far as we have got for now, the next phase will be to resite the tram outside of the compound so that it will form part of our proposed new security fencing, once that is done then the tram can be finished.

Winter does not stop us at Ruddington, over the past few weeks the area in front of the tram has been cleared of trees plants and shrubs ready for the tram to be moved out of the compound and located to its permanent spot.
Already in place so that I can finish painting it, and see if we can get a tram front.
